Great cottage
Convenient to shoreline, well designed house suitable for 4 (2 br), good condition, excellent value for cost for the area.
Mahalo Tom for your five star review. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the convenience of the shoreline and found the house well-designed and in good condition. We hope to welcome you back soon.
We really enjoyed our stay here! The home was perfect for our group of 4. Everything was very clean, well stocked, and the location was great. It was the perfect place to unwind after a long day at the beach. There is no AC like many places in Hawaii but enough windows and fans to create the most comfortable breeze through the home. The garden surrounding the home was so lush and peaceful. We loved laying in the yard or enjoying our morning coffee on the lanai!
Mahalo Julia for your lovely five-star review and comment. We are happy to know that the home fit your ohana comfortably and that the breezes helped keep things cool during your stay. Looking forward to hosting you again soon.

Excellent property in a perfect location
This rental turned out even better than expected. It is very private, which we loved, and could not have been better for our trip. Lawai Beach is a 5 minute walk, and it is close to everything you need in town. We loved our stay here and will stay here again next time in Kauai.

Very kid friendly
Not much is mentioned in VRBO about the set up if you have children. This is a very god place for young kid (and older kids). A very private yard safe from traffic. We could let our kids go in and out as they please. The house has beds for two children in there own room with their own bathroom with tub/shower. Baby beach is less than a five minute walk away and one of the best beaches for little ones. Kids or no kids, a vacation rental for all!! We very much enjoyed our stay.

A quiet retreat, within walking distance to all you need
Poipu is the major resort community on Kauai, and this house is in the heart of Poipu, so it’s a short walk to shops and restaurants, but the house is very quiet. It is managed by the Parrish Group, who are very professional and responsive. Highly recommended.

Perfect cottage
Hey, we had a wonderful stay in Poipu. We stayed in the vrbo cottage behind the larger cottage and enjoyed being further from the main road. The lanai was beautiful and every night we watched the parrots come to sleep in the palm trees (although they can be noisy in the am). The cottage was very clean and had all the amenities that we needed. We would highly recommend staying here and visiting baby beach (about 8min walk away).

Beautiful home!
We loved our stay here. The home was clean and in a beautiful location. We loved having the yard and deck to enjoy while we were taking a break from our outings. The walk to the beach was just a few minutes and baby beach was fantastic for our 15 month old! It was about 10 minute walk to a shopping center with restaurants and retail stores, and a short drive to several other beaches.
The home has a booster seat, pack n play, kids beach toys, a small cooler, beach towels… all helpful! Just wish there were bikes! ????
Hi! Thank you for the kind words. We don’t have bikes for two reasons. First, all the roads on Kauai are two lane with little or no shoulder for bike riding so I feel the insurance risk to provide bikes would be too great. Second, bikes are such an individual thing: the size needs to be right and the seat and handlebars need individual adjustment. We would have to have a dozen bikes to satisfy everyone and that would have to be added to the rental rate. Providing a great house is our main focus.

Wonderful and relaxing stay!
We were fortunate enough to spend a week at Ahe Lani and loved it! My wife & I and our littles, 5 and 8, loved the place. The cottage was clean, quiet and allowed us to have an awesome experience. We would highly recommend and stay here again if in town. The pictures don’t do it justice, it was bigger than the photos show. The yard in front is nice and peaceful. The gardens are lush, fun to watch the parakeets come in every night at sunset time. Very short walk to Baby Beach, the shopping plaza and awesome sunsets in front of the Beach House. We loved hiking Waimea, Awaawapuhi trail is a must! We spent a lot of time at Anini Beach near Princeville and really loved Lawai Beach.

A beautiful gem
This little house is actually very spacious and well appointed inside! The owners have done a beautiful job of decorating and maintaining the property and were generous with supplies, for the beach, for grilling, for the kitchen and for the bathroom.
We were there during a storm and lost power briefly. We lost hot water and couldn’t solve the problem on our own. The emergency rental contact and owner were quick to respond and get it back on.
The property is in a great spot: baby beach, shopping center, supermarket, restaurants, hula show, Poipu Beach, etc., all within a mile or two.
We were there for a week and could easily have stayed longer! Thank you, Buzz, for a lovely time!

Lovely house, great location, good rate
Our family of four (two young children, ages 5 and 8) had a wonderful time here. If you’ve never been to Kauai this location was walking distance to a shopping complex that included a small grocery store and plenty of restaurants, a Keiki beach for the kids (or for watching sunsets), and a great snorkeling spot (Lawa’i Beach – the best snorkeling I’ve been on to Kauai, but a little tricky of an entry for beginners). A few minute drive takes you to popular Poipu beach and a great beginner surfing beach Kiahuna. We also enjoyed driving to Hanapepe and up to the Waimea Canyon Overlook (a must-do if you stay). I can’t imagine a better location for southern Kauai.
The house itself is very nice – one of the nicest we’ve stayed in for the price point in Hawaii. The decorating is higher end than a lot of rentals we’ve stayed at. As noted in the description it is on a shared lot (the beautiful yard is shared with another home as a common area), but the price and location make it a worthy trade in our opinion. It easily beats a nice hotel by a long shot.
The owners responded very quickly to a message I sent them and clearly take great care of the place. I’d stay again or recommend it to friends or family.

We loved the green parrots that visited us in the morning and at sunset!

Tranquil and well maintained
Every step was taken to ensure a welcoming stay at Ahe Lani. We arrived late at night to a warm welcome of fresh flowers, lights on and quiet music playing on the living room tv. The cottage was super clean and every amenity, plus extras, was made available. The house was much larger then we expected so everyone had plenty of room to spread out and have their own space. Bedrooms were large and decor had an authentic Hawaiian feel. We all loved it and felt right at home! Thanks for providing a vacation home that met all of our expectations and then some. We truly enjoyed our stay in your home. Having a clean place we enjoyed staying made our vacation.

We loved this house
We stayed here for a week with our 20 month old daughter and we LOVED it! Great location to baby beach and local shops. The layout of the interior is very spacious, the quality of the furnishings were both comfortable and clean. The landscaping is done perfectly so that the front house is mostly blocked from view and the back house feels very private. Our daughter was so comfortable she was calling it home. We would definitely stay again.
Darling little house near the beach
We loved our stay at Ahe Lani! It is a charming little house that is less than a 5 minute walk to the perfect little beach (Baby Beach). While the main house is on a main road, this guest house is behind the main house and you don’t feel like you are on a main road. There isn’t AC which wasn’t a problem for the time of year we visited but I probably wouldn’t stay without AC in the dead of summer. Furnishings in the house are clean and comfortable and we very much enjoyed our stay! Location couldn’t be more perfect! Would stay again in a heartbeat!

Walking distance to baby beach and shopping!!! Family friendly and perfect
Home away from home
This home is lovely in every respect. Our family of four had no complaints during our two week stay in Kauai. Perfect location. Walking distance to baby beach, the Beach House for happy hour, and snorkeling right next to the Beach House Restaurant. Our morning 3 mile round trip walk to Spouting Horn gave my husband and I time alone while the kids slept in on the comfortable beds. Previous guests left beach chairs, umbrellas, ice chest, boogie board and we left two sets of snorkeling gear! Plenty of supplies in the kitchen and laundry room. Looking forward to our next trip! Thanks Jim & Valerie.
Beautiful with easy access to the things we wanted nearby.
Very well set up for a family vacation; ours was by turns restful and active. The house accomodated both readily.
Special thanks for the thoughtful extra touches; including artwork, towels, flowers, ocean toys and information on how-tos in the house and in the area. They really made the trip easier for us.
The owner was very helpful when VRBO’s system had trouble with our credit card from Canada (no zip code so the system balked). A rapid response + can-do attitude made this a non-issue and set the tone for our trip ????
Special favourites; Poipu beach, the turtles who hung out at Shipwreck, Wed evening crystal bowl concerts by donation at the crystal store in Koloa, body surfing from Hanalei to Shipwreck and especially the wonderful people at Kukui’ula Market around the corner who supplied everything from monthly evening gatherings, amazing juice bar treats + great gluten free food to the solution for embedded sea urchin spines (warmed vinegar + water soaks).
Definitely a place we’d both recommend and return to. Aloha!

My husband and 2-year-old daughter and I had a wonderful time in Kauai, and this home was the ideal home base for us while we were there. The neighborhood is centrally-located in the south shore, the property is private and quiet, and the home is extremely well-appointed (sand toys, beach chairs & towels, etc). Nice stay, and would be happy to be there again. Had a few little glitches with the hot water system. And I can now understand what other reviewers said about the automatic sprinklers. For those wanting to stay on the southern coast, this is central and a great little location and house.
Thank you for the kind words.
The timers for both the sprinklers and solar hot water were affected by the “brown outs” from the power company. In addition, a thermostat on the water heater failed. These issues were addressed as quickly as possible and have been fixed.

Beautiful tropical home
Our family spent a week of vacation at Ahe Lani over spring break. The house is very well-designed and thoughtfully and tastefully furnished. It is surrounded by a beautiful and perfectly maintained tropical garden which completes the experience with bird sounds and nice views from the windows and while sitting out on the covered porch (we had enough shade throughout the day to have all our meals out there). Everything looked just like it did on the photos and we felt very much at home – especially since the area has a very “residential” feel and is far enough away from large hotels and resorts! The kitchen is well stocked and the BBQ (and all other appliances) worked fine. We did not have any issues or problems at all during our stay. The communication with the owner and the rental agency prior to our stay were prompt, friendly and smooth and we were provided with all information and details we needed. We found the location of the house very convenient to explore the island and shared our time between the many pretty beaches and the breathtaking canyon. Thank you for sharing your house and we are hoping to return to Ahe Lani soon!

Got soaked by sprinklers in mid morning on lawn and at 7:45 pm in driveway while dressed up for dinner. Really need to have sprinklers come on at night
Hi Dustin,
I am sorry to hear about the sprinklers soaking you. It seems there is no good time no run the sprinklers—no matter what time we set them at they seem to hit someone. Also, since the control box is inside the house, guests change the times.
Please come back often! We offer repeat guests a 5% discount for each return visit, up to 20% off the fifth and subsequent visits. Since we don’t raise rents much, we have guests staying in that house next year for about the same as they paid in 2009.

Spacious, clean, quality cottage
This cottage is well laid out and very spacious. We were two women traveling together and found the large bedrooms and baths comfortable and more than adequate Easily, 2 couples or a family would be comfortable in this house. The cottage is on the same property as a larger rental house, which was occupied while we were there, but we barely saw them and rarely heard them. There is not direct beach access but a short walk to “baby beach”. We were not there for a lot of beach activity, so we didn’t miss being directly on the beach. We toured the entire island from Poipu and there is a nice shopping area within easy walking distance with restaurants, groceries and shopping. There is a nice market there on one day per week with local arts and foods. I would recommend this rental and would consider going back with my family.

There are better choices available
We have done VRBO for a dozen years throughout the U.S. and overseas. Almost without exception our hosts have been in the “under promise, over perform” category. This experience in Poipu was quite the opposite, so just be aware.
“…located less than 100 yards from Poipu’s Baby Beach.”
That is 100 yards as the crow flies, but closer to a half mile walk lugging your stuff to the small beach. Lots of cute bungalows for rent on Hoona Rd that are much closer.
”So drive right on the lawn! Walk up the hardwood steps to the front porch”
The house is a 150 foot poorly lit walk (with a tripping hazard) from your car. The sprinkler system soaks your car (and you)coming on at 08:00 am and 7:30pm – right when you are heading out or returning. We asked the property manager to change the times- didn’t happen.
“You start to feel the gentle breezes that flow through and cool this house because every room has cross ventilation.”
Flow through ventilation is good, but the neighbor’s exterior flood lights (left on all night) shine right into the master bedroom.
“There is a GE range with microwave, dishwasher, and refrigerator. The kitchen is completely stocked.” If you cook, this place is NOT for you! Very old rusty stove and refrigerator. The oven had been inoperative for three months ; the owner told us after we tried to cook a holiday turkey for our family. It took five days to fix. Hundreds of dollars in unplanned dining expense due to this. The three skillets were warped and the nonstick coating peeling off. We bought the house a new set. Knives were as dull as clubs and the knife sharpener was worn out.
“This lanai is partially roofed in case of rain”
The rain is frequent in winter and the lanai has developed a significant layer of algae which appears black when dry, but is slick as oil when damp. Remember too, to watch out if you don’t like spiders, they were numerous and quite large !
“Outside Ahe Lani is a 3000 square foot lawn with chaise lounges for sunbathing. The lawn is also home to a gas barbecue.”
The lawn is quite small, nearly always in shade, the chairs shared, and beat up. The BBQ is also in very rough shape, well rusted and very poor burners with uneven heat. It is also right in the spray zone of sprinklers while cooking dinner.
There are many, many properties in Poipu. We would recommend you select another.
We have had great rapport with over 1000 guests in 10 years, but about every five years a guest arrives who lies and tries to cheat the landlord, which we and our property manager feel categorizes these guests. We don’t raise our rates during the holidays, so ours is the least expensive two bedroom house in Poipu over Christmas; these guests did not pay Four Seasons rates. Our troubles with them started because the bottom heating element did not work in the ten year old stove. The guests called our property manager Sunday, the repairman came Monday and ordered the part from Honolulu and installed it on Wednesday, which is remarkably quick for Kauai (not five days). They claimed that they couldn’t cook their turkey Saturday night and had to dine out spending $675 (there were supposed to be just two guests), when they actually just took the turkey over to another family member’s house and cooked it there (but we sent them $100 to cover the cost of one meal for two people). The heating element wasn’t visibly damaged and no one complained about the oven previously, but we later determined it had been partially inoperable for at least three months. The skillets each had about ten scratches in the bottom, the Teflon was not lifting up (and we sent them $30 to cover their cost of the new skillets). The house is located just one house from Baby Beach, but we have to walk around the end of the block and pass ten houses to get there (not 1/2 mile). The bungalows on Hoona Road they cite are much more expensive, much smaller and much older. There are footlights along the walk about every 15 feet, but there is one small (less than 1″) bump. Our property manager did not report receiving a call about the sprinklers, and it rains on Kauai much more than the sprinklers spray. We can’t control the neighbor’s lights, but their house is over 50 feet away and there are wood louvers on our window to completely shut out any light. The knives are serrated knives and do not need sharpening but we have a Chef’s Choice electric sharpener for any others. Kauai is tropical so we have quarterly pest control spraying and the pest control company makes extra trips whenever a guest complains about any bugs (this guest did not complain). The lawn is actually 3000 square feet, giving 50 feet of separation from the other house. The chaise lounges are in “good” shape with a few scratches. The tropical weather really beats up barbecues and we replace ours about every year.

Tranquil cottage in the heart of Poipu
Thank you, Mr. Wisda, for making your sweet and comfortable cottage available to rent. My daughters and son-in-law and I spent a most restful week in your lovely house. The rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well-stocked with appliances (although a bit short on a variety of dishes). The best part of Ahe Lani is NO ROOSTERS!! If you’ve ever been to Kauai and rented a place, you know that the critters will wake you up before dawn. Fortunately, this cottage is in a residential neighborhood that seems to have banished the pests. I slept like a log, lulled to sleep by the faint sound of the ocean and the overhead fan. The garden was beautiful; just wish I had had the time to enjoy it, but we were so busy! This cottage is a real find..just 5 minutes driving from the main Poipu Beach, and a quick 5 minute walk to the Kukui’ula Shopping center. I look forward to a return visit very soon.

Highest Marks! We would 100% return to this lovely home!
Buzz provided a welcoming, wonderful home to call our own while we were in gorgeous Kauai. We unanimously agreed that the best place you could possibly stay is a place you would rent again, and that was certainly the case with Ahe Lani. I have rented dozens of places through VRBO and most have been fine, but Buzz was by far the most agreeable, easiest to work with owner I have ever encountered on that site or any other. If VRBO hands out awards for “Best Owners,” he should definitely win! The house itself also takes first place for beauty, ease of use, amenities, thoughtful design and layout, lovely decor, and – this was the best part for us – the feeling that when you arrived, someone else had not just left. It felt CLEAN. And so nicely done. Thank you for that!
The ONLY things that keep me from providing a 5-star review were out of the owner’s control… the construction next door was definitely noisy – lots of machinery and a daily dump truck coming and going – they told us about the construction and said that the heavy stuff was done and it would only be inside work, which wasn’t true, but at least we were forewarned!
Buzz also did his best to work with us on the broken washing machine issue. Honestly, it wouldn’t have been so critical if we hadn’t had a baby with us, and if we had packed for more than 3 days. That wasn’t resolved during our stay, but I really appreciated his efforts.
Overall, we enjoyed our time there so much that we can’t wait to return! That speaks volumes when you’re travelling with a toddler and have lots of logistics to figure out. We loved Ahe Lani! Thank you!

The washing machine part just arrived and will be installed Thursday.
The construction started in March and I can’t imagine what is taking them so long.

A much needed vacation!
Our two week stay was awesome! Although the first couple of days, with the construction going on. And no trade winds to cool the house, it was challenging. After the trade winds came back, everything was just fine.
We went around the whole island, and got some four-wheeling in.
You know staying in a home setting, is so much better then staying in any hotel. And we just loved it!
THANK-YOU
Hi Bernard,

Our stay
Our stay was amazing! This little house was perfect for our family. I have no complaints or recommendations everything was amazing! The construction next door was not bothersome at all. In fact we gave the guys our left over sandwich fixing and they were so appreciative. Baby beach is awesome, loved it much better then any of the other big beaches. Loved walking to the corner and watching the turtles come in. we took many walks and saw many other rentals and hands down this place we will return to. In fact we are planning a family vacation next year to rent both houses! Thank you so very much for sharing your Jem of Koloa with us!
Thank you Heidi,
Thank you for the kind words. We try our best to provide a good vacation. We hope you return often. We offer a 5% discount for each return visit, up to 20% off for your fifth and subsequent visits.

Last minute reservation for 3 nights.
I and my wife, daughter, son-in-law, and infant grandson booked this unit as a last minute addition to the beginning of our stay on Kauai rather than book a hotel room. We decided to come over 3 days early until the arrival of our son and his family. After three days we moved to another house near the Sheraton for the remaining 11 days of our trip. I am not one to give glowing or flowery reviews, but I cannot say enough good about the property and ESPECIALLY the owners. We were contacted about a week or more before our arrival date and informed that there would be construction going on next door and that he was totally unaware that it was going to start. They offered a full refund with no penalties if we wished to cancel. If we did stay, a discount on the cost of our stay would be applied when damage deposit was refunded. We went ahead and stayed and the construction was no problem with us at all. In fact we had more noise at the house we moved to after this rental as it backed up to Poipu Rd. We were wishing we were back at this beautiful and secluded location. Although beach access is not direct and you must walk around to get there, we did not find this a problem. Baby Beach is a great place to take young children. We had an infant with us and if we had too much to carry, we simply drove around. There was never a problem finding a parking place. The property is beautifully decorated and extremely well maintained. My wife and I are from a small and remote commercial fishing town in Alaska of around 1800 population. Besides the beauty of the mountains and the sea, what makes us really love it here are the people. Although I have never met these owners or even talked to them on the phone I feel they are like the citizens of our town. Honest and caring. I just want to say thanks and that we WILL be doing business with you again.
Thank you, Gary, for the kind words. We try very hard to make everyone’s visit enjoyable and affordable.

A very pleasant stay
We just spent 5 nights at Ahe Lani. Very pleasant escape from the first rain in San Francisco for months!! We are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids (age 6 and 8).
Overall we had a great trip to Kauai and enjoyed our stay in Ahe Lani very much.
PRO
– very spacious house. Big bedrooms and bathrooms. YOu can easily fit 2 more people.
– good location. Walking distance (5 mins max with kids) from several beaches and the Kukui’ula shopping village. The village has several restaurant and a very nice but pricey grocery shop.
– Spouting horn is 2 miles….pleasant walk if you fancy that.
– kitchen is adequately stocked with cooking pot and pans.
– beach towel and an array of boogie boards were a welcome surprise
– the house is very well maintained.
– good and efficient communication with Owner and rental agency.
CONS
– the house is on the back of a larger, street facing unit, therefore it does feel a bit enclosed. Fundamentally you are surrounded by other properties, though you have a shared green space on the front (as per pics). The access is via a path on the side of the main house.
– we found the house a bit lacking natural light, which may have been due to the wintery time of the year we visited.
We did enjoy our stay. The cons are merely to paint a full picture not to detract from the property.
Thank you for the kind words and we are happy you had a great vacation. The master bedroom and living room each have windows and/or sliding doors on three sides for ventilation, but the house is surrounded by Areca Palm groves and other tropical plants (to insure privacy) which keep some of the natural light out.

A tiny piece of paradise!
This property is so impeccably well-kept. It included everything one would want or need in the kitchen. These owners go way above and beyond to make your stay comfortable and even included extra necessities such as shampoo, hand soap and more! We can’t wait to come back. Thank you!!
Second stay--Still amazing
Last year I stayed with some friends…this time with family. Either way, it’s an awesome place to be. My parents kept (rightly) gushing about how well-stocked the house was. No need to worry about kitchen incidentals, beach towels etc. as it’s all waiting for you at the house.
Lots of fans to supplement the island breeze and a fab location with good eating/shopping/beaches within walking distance. Once again, we ventured all over the island and no matter where we went, we kept commenting on how happy we were with our location and the pleasures of the house. Well worth the repeat visit (and I may just have to plan a third).

Perfect South Shore Location
We loved Ahe Lani and it’s location!
The home itself is a tropical retreat, not to mention comfortable, immaculately clean, and convenient. We knew, based on previous reviews, that it would be well stocked and accommodating, but to actually be there and see it for ourselves was more than a pleasant surprise. The landscaping on the property was more than adequate to create a sense of privacy.
Ahe Lani’s location was equally pleasing. We snorkeled, fished, watched sunsets, took walks, and dined in the surrounding areas, such as, Baby Beach, Lawai Beach, Poipu Beach, Spouting Horn, the Shops at Kukui’ula, and so much more. Close by was Old Koloa Town, where we frequented it’s grocery stores, shops and eateries. We highly recommend Koloa Deli, they have really good sandwiches for picnics on the go. The shaved ice stand in Koloa was also a favorite, we had tried Uncle’s in Poipu and Ono Ono in Kapaa, too.
Given that we had traveled to many parts of the island, from the Napali Coast to the North Shore, we feel Ahe Lani was the perfect home to call our base. Each day’s drive was a scenic adventure of it’s own.
Thank you, Wisda’s for helping to make our 20th wedding anniversary worry free and that much more memorable.
Running the Kauai Marathon? You want to stay here.
Ahe Lani has everything you need and more. Comfortable beds? Check. Clean, spacious bathrooms? Check. Fully stocked kitchen? Check. Room for your friends to come over for a drink after the run? Check. Peaceful and private when your friends leave? Check. All that and you can walk to the marathon start line.
My husband and I spent 5 days at Ahe Lani when he ran the full marathon and I ran the half last September. We had never been to Kauai before, so we did some searching on the internet for places to stay. We looked at condos, hotels, and VRBOs and ended picking Ahe Lani.
Ahe Lani is the smaller house on a two-home lot. It is set back from the road on a neatly landscaped, lush lawn, lined with plumeria flowers and tropical trees. The house is tastefully decorated in a relaxed and classy island style. When you enter, there is a small foyer to leave your shoes, then you walk into an open kitchen and living room. Down the hall, there is a spacious bedroom with two twin beds and a bathroom. The master bedroom has a king bed and private bathroom. A sheltered lanai with a dining table and chairs looks out onto the yard. The windows are covered with wood shutters that open to let in the breeze.
The location is ideal for marathoners — we walked to the start line in the morning and walked home after the run. But it is just as perfect for families, honeymooners, anyone really. Beaches, shopping, and the fancy hotels in Poipu are all short walks away. The house is on a main road at the edge of a quiet residential neighborhood. After day or two, you feel like this is your home.
In fact, we treated the house like it was ours. We used the stove, the outdoor grill, the dishwasher, the boogie boards and beach towels, washer and dryer. We even broke the blender (the owners were very gracious about it). My sister and her husband stayed 2 nights with their baby, and the house accommodated all of us comfortably. As I write this and think about our time at Ahe Lani, those 5 days felt like a dream; we were so comfortable, relaxed, and happy there. It was just perfect for us.
When you walk the two minutes from Ahe Lani to the Beach House restaurant, you see a number of uninspired condo buildings lining the road, jammed together with their crowded patios, loud tourists, and premium prices. You will be so happy to have your own private paradise and to have paid a lot less for it. Save that money for a post-run massage and your next trip to Kauai
Great location for a Kauai getaway.
Ahe Lani is a great plantation style beach area house. We say beach area because even though you can hear the ocean surf 24/7, you are still a 5-minute walk away from Baby Beach and maybe 10 minutes from Beach House Beach. The house seems larger than it looks from the photos and it is 1300 sq. ft. Even though it was built in 2005, you would think it was only a few months old. It is very well constructed and extremely well maintained. No A/C but lots of ceiling fans to keep you comfortable. Fully stocked kitchen (at our suggestion the owner has just replaced the dinnerware) with granite countertops and washer / dryer. Wi-Fi worked great the entire stay. Beach supplies including “Boogie” boards are in the storage room. Kukui’ula Shopping Village .(Bubba Burger and a great Farmer’s Market mid-week) is just a 10-minute walk while the old sugar plantation town of Koloa (Big Save groceries, dining, shopping) is only 5 minutes by car. We spent mornings and evenings out on the lanai enjoying the cool breezes and tropical landscaping. Lots of vegetation out back and all around – coconut palms, hibiscus, grass and other lush tropical vegetation.
To get to “real” beaches (ie: shores – those that offer sand to lie on and accessible waves for boogie boarding), you’ll have to drive a short distance to Poipu Beach / Brennecke Beach) about 1-1/2 miles away or up to the north shore. Don’t misunderstand, the location for Ahe Lani is great – very relaxing, cool breezes, great landscaping and the soothing sound of the surf. The only thing we might ask for to make it perfect would be a flat screen TV … but you don’t go to Kauai to watch TV did you? All things considered, we think Ahe Lani would be hard to beat for a nice relaxing stay on Kauai’s south shore – don’t pass it up.
Thank you Peter for the nice comments. And thank you for calling attention to the need for new dishes. We replaced the white dishes with a nice green set.
We know that when we get to Poipu we develop the “Kauai mosey”, which means we start walking very leisurely. So the slow pace and the heat seems to make it feel like it takes longer to walk places than it actually does. I measured Lawai Beach in front of the Beach House Restaurant as just two tenths of a mile (350 yards) from the house, and Baby Beach is a little shorter walk around the end of the block and the beach is actually less than 100 yards from the house as the crow flies.
We hope you return often and don’t forget our return guest discount of 5% of each return trip, up to 20% off your fifth and subsequent visits.
Aloha,

Best. Vacation. Ever.
My two friends and I could not have been happier with our vacation. The house was the perfect base from which to explore the entire island. The owners have all the bases covered. When we arrived, the house was beautifully lit, with tropical flowers and all the info we could possibly need there to greet us. The house is well-stocked with anything you might need and, quite frankly, the pictures just don’t do the place justice. The house is fabulous.
What’s more, the location is great for a quick stroll up to a great shopping/dining center or a longer stroll to the beach (Skip Baby Beach–close, but not great swimming–and Lawai–a little further, but really crowded–and trek a little bit further to Kukuiula Harbor….it’s well protected and generally deserted).
We ventured all over the island and no matter where we went, we kept commenting on how happy we were with our location and the pleasures of the house. Five stars fabulous. Highly recommended.
Hi Katy,
Thank you for the great review, but most important we are happy you had a great experience! Grand time!
We had a wonderful time at your Kaua’i beach home! You truly thought of everything! The location was phenomenal! The kitchen was well stocked, the grill in great working order, beach towels, beach chairs, a cooler, boogy boards . . . You truly thought of everything and more! I was a bit apprehensive when I found we were sharing the property with others, you designed living space so well that we never heard anyone! (only the surf at night . . . Loved the windows!). We would be happy to recommend your home to other travelers!
Thank you, Joe. We are very happy that you enjoyed Poipu and our house. We come you come back often and take advantage of our returning guest discounts. Buzz Wisda

We loved our stay at Ahe Lani! We were there the end of January, 2008. There was the major construction going on nearby as well as reroofing next door, but that was not an issue at night and we weren’t home much during the day. The detour to Poipu was a little confusing but that may be temporary. The house is fairly new, well kept up and clean, with quality cabinets, appliances and furnishings. The kitchen had everything we needed, and the two bedrooms with their own bathrooms were separated enough to allow plenty of privacy for the two couples staying there. The house is not right on the beach but within walking distance to Lawai Beach where there is great snorkeling. We would love the opportunity to stay there again someday.
