A great experience staying at this property that is so close to a fabulous sandy beach and has a lovely pool as well. The unit was well equipped and allowed us to save money - and time by having breakfast and lunch at the condo, while splurging on dinners out. The location in Poipu is fabulous, and Parrish makes the whole process from start to finish so easy. Will definitely rent through them again!

Nice property and people.

Loved our stay at Nihi Kai. Easy walk to Poipu Beach park. Very peaceful. Unit is well equipped and most everything works well. Exception is the hot water heater that had to be reset at least once a day or no hot water. Management was made aware so I expect they will fix it.

Unit required too much maintenance

During our stay, our hot water system failed 5 times, the washing machine broke and the bathtub faucet fell off. The management company responded quickly in each instance but clearly there were issues that had been ignored in the past. It was a major inconvenience. We are being given a partial refund on our stay, but will never book this unit again.

Aloha Ginger, we apologize on the issues you experienced. I assure you these were not ignored. Had we had a place to move you we would have. We are glad we were able to reset the water heater and teach you how to reset it as well, in addition to offer you complementary fluff and fold. You are right, not idea but please know it is not normal. Glad you were happy with the compensation and we do look forward to hosting you again with less issues. Mahalo

The property was great. Very clean. Great communication. Washer was broken, but was notified prior to arrival. Could’ve used it, so I was a bit bummed about it. But otherwise, I highly recommend this property.

Incredible property for our family of 4!

We loved this condo so much that we seriously considered buying the unit next door that was for sell. The lanai had gorgeous views (especially sunsets!) and was comfortable to relax on or enjoy a family meal. The rooms were comfortable and adequately housed my husband and I and our two young adult children. The kitchen had everything we needed and more. The TV had access to numerous streaming services. The air conditioning was nice. All the furniture was comfortable. We loved having beach chairs and other “toys” available for use (however, bring your own tennis balls as there were none to use with the provided racquets). The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. The walk to the beach is short and we had access to fantastic food, a surf shop (best snorkeling rental around!), and fantastic snorkeling on Brenneke’s Beach. The sea turtles were on the beach every morning and the sunsets were amazing. My biggest complaint is that there wasn’t a full-length mirror (can that even be a complaint!?!). Our family highly recommends this condo, this complex, this location, and Parrish Kauai! Mahalo!

Excellent location close to beach. Well stocked kitchen. Really responsive host. Only mild negative is this unit is in the second floor and a little bit of a walk from the parking lot so if you have large luggage it can be a pain lifting it upstairs.

The airbnb is super spacious, clean and beautiful! They have a well stocked kitchen with enough cutlery to eat in! The condo we stayed in wasn’t right at the beach but a 2-3 mins walk which isn’t bad! There’s a nice deli right around the corner which is a saviour for vegetarians like us! The Parrish team was accommodative and helpful even when we checked in at 11 pm. All in all, I would recommend a stay here!

Great location and comfortable

Overall this was an excellent location and a great property to stay at. Quick access to the beaches and restaurants, and my kids loved having the pool a few minute walk away. The property was clean and whenever we had a question, the management responded quickly. The only drawbacks were the lack of parking because of the construction. We never had any issues with noise from the construction, so that was good, just less space to park because some of their lots were closed. Also there was a terrible smell of septic at the pool on a few days. We asked about that and were told it is an issue on the island, especially with old septic systems. It happened maybe 4 of the 10 days we were at the pool. Besides that I would recommend this location, and we would stay here again!

Location

We loved the location of this property! So easy to walk to the beaches and the mall. The condo was clean and decently stocked but wished there had been at least salt and pepper in the unit for cooking. A cooler and beach chairs were available to use. There was a great fireworks display at Poipu beach new years eve! Definately recommend

Great location and condo for our family! We loved the short walks to Brennecke and Poipu Beach, short drive to shops and restaurants. Our condo was super clean, the view was spectacular and the pool was great too. The kids loved every minute of it! If you’re staying at Poipu I would definitely recommend Nihi Kai Villas! Beautiful landscaping, very gracious staff, inconvenient not having a bathroom on the main floor

The apartment was very nicely decorated. I can see why the owner is so proud of his work on the kitchen. Great layout, storage and generous supply of pantry items and cooking equipment and utensils. The bathroom sinks and cabinets were well done too.The main floor is lovely and spacious. The unit is well ventilated but a small umbrella for the west facing lanai would be great for the afternoons…it would mean being able to open the curtains in the living room in late afternoon. Wondered why the mirror in the entry way was hung so high. I’m 5’6″but couldn’t even see the top of my head.

Mahalo for your comments……to clarify a few things. Umbrella’s are not allowed on lanai’s ……..The entrance mirror is a decor item, not a grooming mirror…it adds light reflection. We do have nice large mirrors in each bathroom

We enjoyed our stay! It was wonderful. Just a short walk to the beach.

We really enjoyed staying at Mike’s condo on Poipu. It was a short 5 minute walk to the beach. I loved having my coffee every morning on the lanai facing the ocean. Also, since we stayed through New Years we were able to watch the fireworks on New Years Eve which are set off from Poipu Beach. We had the perfect view of the fireworks from the upper west facing lanai. It was spectacular!! The condo was wonderful. All of the supplies needed to cook a meal, bake cookies, pop popcorn were all available. We bought groceries at the Safeway in Lihue on the way down to the condo. It was so nice to sleep in and eat a light breakfast on the lanai everyday. I would highly recommend this condo to anyone looking to stay on Poipu. I hope we can make it back here again soon!! Awesome apartment & location

Great apartment that had everything you needed set in a beautiful complex. Would highly recommend to friend. Only thing that threw us was how to turn on the shower as needed to pull it out and we were just not use to that coming from Australia. Might be a good idea just to add to notes in the folder as we ended up having to call the property manager at 11pm at night. Overall thanks for an awesome base for our week in stunning Kauai. Great Poipu location!

This condo was perfect for our family of 4. (Two kids ages 6 & 8). Condo was well stocked with everything you could possibly need. Just add food! We brought our own, but there was even shampoo, conditioner, and soap in the bathrooms. Kitchen had pots, pans, lots of containers for storage, extensive selection of utensils and gadgets. There is a bit of a view off the back lanai. Great place to enjoy meals. The condo complex was very quiet. And since the bedrooms are downstairs, we rarely heard the 3rd floor neighbors. We spent a lot of time at the pool. Water was plenty warm, and other guests even noted water seemed heated compared to pools at other complexes. The ocean is just a few steps past the pool. The sandy beach is about 10-12min walk (considering we were carrying all of our gear and walking with 2 kids). Nihi Kai is a great location, especially compared to other condos in Poipu. It’s much closer to the beach than most places. The condo was in great shape and the owner was very responsive, and quick to answer my questions when booking. We would definitely stay here again!

Enjoyable stay

We stayed at Mike’s Condo for 5 nights and 6 days. The house comes with about everything you need! My favorite part is how close we are to the beach. We could just grab our towels and beach chairs and head out. If you just walk out of the complex and across the street, you’ll run into the ocean, it’s amazing. Every morning we would make coffee and head to Poipu beach where we saw turtles and sea lions; I highly recommend doing that. There was shampoo and conditioner in our showers which smelled so good. I had packed my own just in case but it was convenient and nice that they had some supplied for us. The house also has a washer and dryer and that was sooo awesome to have. We left with our suitcase packed full of clean clothes! We enjoyed our stay and I’m sure if you stay here then you will too. Thanks Mike!

Seemed like home

We stayed here for the first time and we loved it all. The location, the accommodations, and the people could not have been nicer. The stairs in and out of the condo might be something to consider if they are an issue but everything else was great. The kitchen supplies were above and beyond…I don’t use that many at home. Mike has supplied all the basic essentials to keep things neat and tidy. The location couldn’t be better if your looking for ocean activities in the day and quiet evenings. So much to see and do here I only hope we can return again very soon.

Fabulous condo close to Poipu beach!

So nice to return to Mike’s condo after a few years. Still in good shape and again, everything is ready for you when you arrive. Easy to set up house – really only need to buy the groceries and small condiments. Beach equipment was available so easy to pack a lunch into the cooler and walk to Poipu Beach. Parking is convenient. Great place if you have a family. Swimming pool is always a hit for the kids. Poipu is the sunniest spot on the island and it’s a short walk down the complex to the beach (1 block). Can also walk to the end of the complex just to sit and watch the sunset. Thanks, Mike! We had a great time again!

Beautiful condo that was perfect for my husband and myself as well as our adult daughter. All had their private spaces and the collective space was comfortable and well beautifully appointed. However if stairs are an issue, this is not the condo for you. Their are stairs going into the condo as well as in the interior.

Lovely place to stay, great location

We loved our stay in Poipu, the condo location was great – just a short walk to the beach, saw whales while walking along the shore, swimming and snorkeling at the the local beaches great, and saw resting sea turtles and monk seals on the beach. The unit suited the 4 of us just great – nicely decorated in Hawaiian style, well-equipped kitchen , beach chairs and cooler to borrow, lots of information and recommendations from owner. Breakfasts on the lanai watching the birds were lovely, beautiful gardens throughout the location grounds, parking convenient. We would definitely recommend this vacation rental and would love to return.

Great Condo - Fabulous Location!

Our family of four stayed here in November 2017. This condo had EVERYTHING we needed. Lots of small, thoughtful details like the cooler and ice packs. Fully stocked and functional kitchen. Beautifully maintained rental property. Our kids wanted boogie boards, so we bought a couple at Walmart and donated them to the condo’s beach gear for future guests. Poipu beach was just a few minutes’ walk away and had the BEST snorkeling we found on the island–many of the beaches on the north side of the island were closed due to rough surf during this time of year. We saw all kinds of fish, snowflake eels, a small spotted ray, and LOTS of turtles! This was a PERFECT place to take our kids (ages 12 and 10) snorkeling for the first time.

Perfect!

My family and I just spent 8 nights at this beautiful condo. The condo was built in the 70’s but has been updated and is well maintained. The complex is well maintained as well. The kitchen has everything you need to cook meals in while on Kauai. We loved to spend a few nights out to eat but relaxed and cooked in quite a bit as well. Eating out is EXPENSIVE. I would highly recommend getting some fresh Ahi steaks or Mahi Mahi from the Koloa fish market! We had pretty strong trade winds that flowed through the unit while we were there. There is no A/C but the winds and fans (another provided amenity) kept us quite comfortable. Parking was always available and close to the building. The beach is super close and at most a 5 minutes walk. The complex has a shared outdoor grill and picnic pavilion with two gas grills. The pool was clean and well maintained with a foot wash just outside the pool and a shower inside the pool area with bathrooms. The sunsets from the beach, pool area, and Brennecke’s beach restaurant were AWESOME! We saw turtles and seals everyday. Our Zodiac excursion was cancelled due to high surf so we went ziplining instead. I wasn’t very excited at first but after we did it, I can’t recommend it enough. We used Koloa ziplining. 8 lines with one over 1/2 mile long and 2 over a quarter of a mile. Check it out. Anyway, back to the unit and Nihi Kai in general. We loved it and can’t wait to come back one day. The owner has done a great job keeping it looking nice and feeling comfortable. Thanks!

A wonderful stay!

We spent nine nights in this condo and had a wonderful stay! The condo is one of the best values in Poipu and conveniently located near all the south shore sites. Most evenings we walked across the street to Poipu Beach to watch the sunsets (and hang out with the monk seals). We found everything we needed in the condo for an enjoyable stay. Mike has thought of almost everything, even filters for the coffee pot! All we had to do was buy groceries. The unit is clean and neat as a pin, the grounds are immaculate and the pool only a short walk away. We also made use of the BBQs, which are also conveniently nearby. We shopped around a lot before selecting this condo and at this price point it’s a great deal! Thank you for an enjoyable stay! Hope to return soon!!

LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!

The location of this place is phenomenal, you can see Brennecke’s beach from the lanai (filtered view), and can sit in the lounge chairs at the pool and practically feel the ocean mist (the ocean is across the street)! Even if you are a “really slow” walker – you can get to Po’ipu Beach in 10 – 15 minutes – took us 5. The sunsets were incredible here – and swimming with the turtles was very magical. The place was tastefully furnished and had everything you desired in the kitchen – including a crock pot! We loved the ability to use the portable fans in each room – yes there are ceiling fans too in each room. We never had a problem with parking no matter what time we came back. Very easy to get to anywhere from this place and I would recommend to anyone… definitely want to go back to this place again sometime! Also – Costco and Safeway are very close (19 minutes – go there first when you leave the airport as it is on your way to the Condo) to get all of your needs. If you forget something CVS (Longs Drugs on this island) is 5 – 7 minutes away. I ran every morning 5 – 7 miles and felt very safe exploring the surrounding area on my own. Our girls 17 and 16 loved the location too. We stayed for 6 nights and explored so many areas of the island. The owner has great manuals in the unit that you can use to find unique things to do for your enjoyment. Mahalo can’t even describe our joy at finding this location!

Lovely secluded perfectly situated home, so wonderful!

We had such an amazing time staying in this unit with our two daughters, ages 6 and 8. The grounds are immaculate, the pool is located in a lovely location close to the beach. The second day that we were there, we saw humpback whales offshore from the pool, breaching and playing. Nihi Kai is steps from Brennecke Beach and a short walk to Poipu Beach Park. During the day, monk seals would come ashore, and evenings we would walk down to the beach and watch the sea turtles resting. We rented boogie boards and snorkeling gear from Nukumoi, and used the beach chairs, umbrella, and cooler provided by the owners nearly every day. There was even ice packs kept in freezer for us to use with the cooler. The owners have thought of everything and have gone to great lengths to keep the condo in excellent condition. The lack of air-conditioning was never an issue. We kept windows open and fans on at night and were always comfortable sleeping. We hope to stay again in the future! what a lovely place!

Great condo for a family vacation!

This condo was perfect for our family of 2 adults and 2 teens to enjoy a fantastic Kauai vacation. It is very comfortable, providing a fully-equipped kitchen to prepare one’s own meals, quiet lanais for dining and contemplating the view, and great beds for a restful sleep – including twin beds in the second bedroom for feuding teens. The resort grounds are scenic and serene, with quality barbecues we used often, ample convenient parking and a pleasant gathering of residents on the wall to watch the sunset. Our visit went super smoothly and I would highly recommend this condo.

Great location and well equipped.

It’s walking distance from the beach. The kitchen, like the rest of the house, had everything we needed: cooking utensils, towels, and linens. This is a very large condo with the two bedrooms and two full baths downstairs. Our kids had their own room and lots of space to play. They were fascinated with the glass dining table.

Beautiful condo

I really enjoyed staying at your Poipu Condo, the condo was outfitted so well and so up-to-date that it felt like a home away from home. However my wife, complained about the lack of air conditioning which I failed to check when booking the location. This would have been okay if the fans upstairs were working okay, they were not. There are two fans on the upstairs level, one worked fair for most of our stay. By fair I mean it had a low speed but no high speed, on the last day it failed altogether. The second upstairs fan did not work at all, therefore the upstairs was only cooled by the trade winds. Now that the negative is out of the way, let me focus on the positive. The condo itself is beautifully decorated and is very up-to-date. Just about everything you can imagine was there so all you needed to bring was your food (staples were already stocked) and clothes. The kitchen was extremely well stocked. The beds were extremely comfortable and even the sheets were first rate! The condo is a brief 5 minute walk to the shore that has beautiful sunsets, a park and some beach area. The grounds of the condo were lovely, we bbq’d some abalone we got on the Big Island prior to arriving on Kauai, the BBQ’s worked perfectly. We frequently swam in the pool after long days of exploring the island. For those that do not know the Poipu area it is very central to Kauai and has lots to do in the immediate area, great shopping and dining such as Eating House 1849, lots of nature to explore like Waimea Canyon, the fun town of Hanapepe, the town of Waimea (visit Auntie Lilikuoi’s), Salt Pond Park and other beaches and take the tubing adventure tour. If you want to just kick back and relax, the pool at the condo is relaxing and quiet. You really cannot go wrong visiting this island. Overall I recommend this location, once the upstairs fans are taken care of there is no reason to not rent it. Thanks so much for having us!

In addition, we do provide two portable fans to compliment the four ceiling fans. Beautiful condo in a perfect location

My husband and I stayed at this condo for 5 nights in August at the end of a two week trip. The location is wonderful — can’t beat easy walking distance to a couple of gorgeous beaches and nice restaurants, and Kauai is my favorite island. The kitchen has everything we needed to cook whatever we wanted. The condo is well-stocked with basics for cooking and living (toilet paper, soaps, etc.), as well as a few beach accessories to borrow. The grounds are lovely and well-maintained, we really enjoyed listening to the ocean waves crash from the pool area. Quiet hours in the condo complex and comfy beds meant we got great sleep. This condo was so nice — wish I could live there forever! Despite the August heat, this condo was comfortable most parts of the day because of cross-breezes, fans, and well-designed window ventilation. I had a hard time leaving! I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family and would love to come back as soon as possible.

Great Stay

Lovely property, perfect location!

We stayed for a week at Nihi Kai Villas and had a wonderful time. Provided amenities such as beach chairs, an umbrella and a cooler made our time on the fabulous beaches even more enjoyable. Our kitchen was well-stocked for cooking meals at the condo and we loved watching the sunset from poolside. Comfortable beds, plenty of fans, and a view to the ocean from the upper patio all combined for a relaxing vacation. The owner provided excellent customer service and is in the process of updating the bathrooms. A highly recommended property, and less than a five minute walk to Brennecke’s Beach!

Great Condo in a Great Location

My wife & I stayed in this condo for 2 weeks in February, 2016. It was our 5th stay on Kauai. First a description. When the owner says it is over 1,500 sf, that includes the 2 lanais and 2 patios. The interior space is 1,174 sf. There are 2 levels. The first ground floor level has the 2 bedrooms and 2 full baths. The baths are nice and clean but getting close to needing an update. The bed was very comfortable. Off each bedroom is a small patio (35 sf each) through glass sliders . You enter the condo by walking up an exterior flight of stairs to the 2nd level where you find the kitchen, dining area and living room. There is no bathroom on the 2nd level. You must walk downstairs. The main lanai on the 2nd level is a fantastic 110 sf. It has a table and chairs large enough to comfortably eat on. From there you can see a nice distant view of the ocean. We ate breakfast there every morning. There is no road noise, just the gentle sounds of birds. The 2nd lanai is off the kitchen and is about 1/2 the size of the main lanai. The kitchen was nicely remodeled with granite counter tops and newer appliances. There were newer, good quality pots & pans. It was stocked with lots of spices and cleaning supplies. The WiFi was fast, about 35 mbs. The condo was super clean, and we had no problems. The condo complex is very well maintained with lush landscaping. The staff was quite pleasant. It seems to be a Poipu ritual to go down to the beach ( a 5 min. walk) to watch the sunset every evening and it is spectacular. Poipu beach is a fantastic beach with some of the best snorkeling on the island. And across the street is a great store that rents snorkel equipment at very reasonable rates. Everything went exactly as planned with the owner.

Good value in Poipu

My wife and I have just finished our second stay at this well maintained and very convenient condo in normally sunny Poipu. Mike and Cindy are most accommodating and I have found dealing with them to be efficient and trouble free. The condo is very convenient for Poipu beaches. The park is just a five minute walk away and from there you can snorkel and swim to your heart’s content. Boogie boarding is also possible a little further on on one of the other beaches close by. The condo is well provisioned with a comfortable king sized bed and twin beds in the second bedroom. The kitchen is well maintained and has all the utensils / spices etc that you might need. Beach chairs, umbrellas, beach mats are all provided. Poipu is a good choice, especially in the winter months. Kauai, for those who have never been here, is delightful! A true tropical gem!

Perfect Beach Condo!

Just returned from a fabulous 2 week stay in Mike and Cindy’s condo! Where to start? First, Mike is a breeze to work with. Responds promptly with questions, contracts, and deposit refund. Second: location. The Nihi Kai Villas are right across a quiet street to the beach, with a 1 minute walk to Brennecke’s Beach (for boogie boarding) and a 5 minute walk to Poipu State Park Beach (which has a awesome swim area for kids and a restaurant with deli/shave ice across the road). We have been to every island on Hawaii 3 – 4 times, and we LOVED the convenience of a quick stroll to one of the nicest set of beaches in Hawaii. Also, the condo complex is across the parking lot from one of our favorite dinner places: Casa di Amici. Fabulous seafood and pasta. Third: the condo itself. We have stayed in many condos in Hawaii through the years, and Mike and Cindy’s place was the nicest one. Perfect space for two parents, and older teenagers. The living area is large and comfortable with a nice deck outside and overhead fans. The sea breezes flowed and kept everyone cool. Nice large TV. The kitchen was beautiful and without a doubt the most extensively stocked kitchen I have ever seen. I am a cook and usually struggle to make things on vacation. Not in this kitchen. Salad spinner, rice cooker, 3 cutting boards, blender, spices, good knives, and every other gadget imaginable for cooking. We went to the farmer’s market and local fish places every few days and had no problem making great dinners in the condo. Lots of supplies given like paper towel, dishwasher soap, etc which lasted us over a week. Downstairs are two full suites with incredibly comfy beds and pillows–I have never written a review about comfy beds! The master King bed suite had a nice TV. Lots of extra pillows and bedding, and enough white towels for the condo, and 6 huge beach towels for the beach. The bathrooms were spacious and had electric fans. Extra toilet paper rolls, shampoo, conditioner, soap, and a hair dryer were in the cabinets when we arrived. Nice stacking washing and dryer with laundry detergent and stain remover spray included. On the outside deck there were: 4 beach chairs (backpack style), an umbrella, ice chest, sand mats, etc. Very nice to have those available. Mike and Cindy have worked overtime to think of everything you could possibly need to be comfortable on vacation in Poipu. Perfect condo in a perfect location. We can’t wait to return!!

You should be so lucky as to stay here!

I’ve spent many a night in Kauai, enjoying fine luxury hotels and drinking deep of the liquid sunshine. My latest trip took a different turn by renting this property. Was I ever pleased! First, it’s located within short walking distance of Poipu beach. That alone should jack-up the prices beyond what is currently listed. Second, the place is well tend to. I slept in a brand new bed and each morning, my wife and I would look out the top floor balcony window and take in the ocean sea breeze. The fans that cool this place are more than enough to meet a persons needs. And the location puts you very close to many of the big hotels: The Grand Hyatt, Sheraton, and Marriot without hearing them! I love too that places like Seasport Divers is only five minutes away! Heck, even snorkeling around the Beach House restaurant, an equally if not better place to snorkel, is only a few minutes away! And we didn’t have time to partake of all the great amenities: pool and bbq just to name a few. Parking is a plenty and there is even an Italian restaurant right across the way. I’m sure we’ll rent this again so long as the owner permits it. We were lucky to get this find. I hope, dear reader of this review, you’re lucky too!

Exceptional Hospitality and Value; Wonderful Location and Nearby Activities

This is the second visit to this amazing place. I first tried this Condo about 4 years ago and brought along a very dear friend this time to introduce her to the joys of this particular bit of paradise. The condo complex is very quiet and has full amenities. Close to Poipu Beach where you can wake and walk the beach each and every day; and in the evening view the beautiful sunset to the West. Amazing cross ventilation in the condo itself; with ceiling fans throughout. WiFi, to be sure, so if you really do want to be connected, you can . . . but why would you?!!! Well appointed with all the dishware and kitchenware you will need. Supplies are sufficient for the first week. Amazing restaurants are nearby: Casa di Amici for Italian; Brennecke’s Beach Broiler for great seafood; Keioke’s Paradise for something a little fancier; and of course Gayloards back near Lihue. Convenient to get to Waimea Canyon . . . try the Grind for breakfast. Kauai Coffee Plantation also within 20 minutes. Terri, the on site manager is a wealth of local knowledge and can provide instruction on how to get anywhere on the island. And in case you didn’t know, don’t worry about the chance of rain . . . . you’re on the drier side of Kauai and even in November, what little rain we did get didn’t last long and was mostly at night.

Outstanding

My first trip to Kauai. So glad I found this place on VRBO. Décor and location were fantastic. Loved seeing the turtles right across the street. Was so easy to walk to many great spots right from condo. Explored the canyon and the North Shore. This island is truly a gem. Always great to come back to the condo. Very relaxing and quiet. Mike was very easy to deal with. Renting was a breeze. Loved having two full bathrooms attached to each bedroom. The complex is so nice adorned with many great flowers. Highly recommend the knuckle at Kalaheo Café!! Get there early…….

Walk to Beach EVERY day!

This unit was a home away from home. Ocean breezes coming in cool the place down quite a bit a nite so no issue being without A/C. Brenneke Beach and Poi’pu Beach were fantastic. Best boogie board beach on the south shore (Brenneke) and snorkeling at Westside of Poi’pu. We bot some cheap boogie boards and then payed it forward by giving them to a young family on the beach before we left on our last day. Condo is SOOOO close to both beaches and you can walk to Shipwreck beach (nice morning walk). There were turtles galore and spinner dolphins each morning on the rocks outside the condo. We got to swim with the turtles at Brenneke beach every day. This is a perfect spot. Only recommendation we can make is to update the bathroom cupboards and have extra bedding but other than that you cannot go wrong staying here. Thanks to Terry for her tips and great personality. Beautiful grounds and as close to the beach as you can be!

We enjoyed our vacation in this great condo with 3 adults and two teens. We love the patios on the front and back so that you can choose sun or shade. Make sure you keep the blinds closed during the day while your at the beach so that the condo stays cool. It’s a little hot at night without the A/C, but it’s worth it to be able to open the double sliders and breath the fresh ocean air! We have stayed at the Aston Poipu Kai resort and this is soooo much better! The pool and grounds couldn’t be better, and it is one of the closest condos to the beach. I have a nice house, but this kitchen is still nicer than mine and really well stocked. Someone left snorkel gear behind and that was a nice bonus. The cupboards did have some dry goods and we tried to pay it forward by leaving some Tide pods, pancake mix and cooking oil behind for the next people. I think that Costco is overboard for just 7 days, so we got food at Walmart but still found that some things are cheaper right there in Old Koloa Town at the Big Save Grocery store. Make sure you get the macadamia nut cookies in the bakery, they are to die for. The little grocery store down the road from the roundabout is called Kukuiula and had great prices on Steaks cut from local beef. If you there on a Sunday, walk to the Grand Hyatt and have the Sunday brunch, but be prepared to spend around $31 for it. The water here tastes great, so go green and use the sports bottles in the room. The reusable grocery bags behind the front door are worn out, so we opted to use the paper bags at the grocery store. The largest bag behind the door is insulated for frozen foods from the grocery store or for taking drinks to the beach. (or use the plastic cooler) The beach chairs were so nice we wanted to get some for home, be sure to use the built-in backpack to carry towels and sunblock. The pool area has a foot wash station when you get back from the beach and the shower is kind of hidden near the mens room and it great to rinse off the sand before you get back to the room. I gave this condo 5 stars, but it still had a few things that could be better. -The hide-a-bed needs a better mattress and not the cheap 4″ one that it has now. -The condo needs to have more than one spare pillow (for the hide-a-bed) and the quality of the spare pillows should be as nice as the ones in the rooms. -The bathrooms could use a remodel to match the kitchen.

Excellent vacation rental for our small family with two young kids!

We stayed here for a week with two children (Ages 1 and 4), and grandma, who had never been to Hawaii before. We were all very happy with the accommodations, and had a fantastic vacation as a result. Very clean condominium with ample space for the children to play in the living room, and came equipped with a pack & play (we did actually bring our own, whoops!). The condo was nicely upgraded where it counts, and good quality stainless steel cookware in the kitchen. Nice private, sheltered lanai(s) for eating in, and enjoying the Hawaiian weather. Poipu beach was indeed an easy 5 minute stroll from the front door, and is the best beach we’ve ever been to for young children. It’s sheltered from waves by a natural rock formation which makes a ~100 yard wide “wading pool”, and you just have to look down to see tropical fish swimming around you. You can just snorkel around the wall for some deeper water and see more. We saw BOTH a turtle and a monk seal at Poipu while we were there (which were big hits with the kids), not to mention the abundance of other sea life we saw there as well. The condo is in a great central location for an easy drive to the north shore, or other sights such as Waimea canyon or the coffee plantation. There are ample nearby places to shop and to eat, but our favorites were The Fish Market in Koloa, Shrimp Station in Waimea, Puka Dogs at the plantation, and Roy’s (for a fancy meal without kids). We spent most evenings and mornings eating in, taking full advantage of the clean cooking facilities at the condo and were able to save quite a bit of money that way. Mike was clear about the conditions for the rental and had excellent communication throughout the process. We felt it was a an excellent price for the amount of living space we had during our vacation. Our deposit was returned promptly after we left. We would love to return when the kids are a little older so we can do some of the more adventurous stuff. Highly recommended! Thanks for a great vacation!

Perfect home-away-from-home!

Our family of 2 adults and 2 teenage girls stayed here for a week. We were all very comfortable and happy with the condo. The updated kitchen was appointed with everything we needed (we ate in most of the time.. stocked up at Costco in Lihue and bought most of our fresh food from the Big Save market in Koloa). We spent mornings drinking coffee on the lanai with the birds and evenings watching the sun set. The beach is literally down the street. A great place to stay that I would highly recommend and would stay at again!

Best you can ask for a family with kids

You take about 12 stairs to reach the entrance that opens into the Kitchen and living room area with a balcony (lanai) facing the sea. The view from lanai is exactly like the one in the photograph on the description page. Bedrooms are downstairs with a bathroom attached to each. Nice condo with ALL the amenities of living. 2 beaches are at a walkable distance. WiFi in house. Great place to rent and I would highly recommend to any family with kids. Our family of 5 included an 11 month old, a six and a 9 year old and two adults.

Coloradoan beach-seekers

We had 4 adults in this condo with plenty of room. it is nicely decorated and felt very comfortable. The pictures and description were exactly as indicated.The location is excellent in that it is a very short walk to a wonderful beach. We were able to walk to a great local restaurant. The kitchen is fully equipped and lacks nothing that might be needed. The grounds of the complex are kept very neat and clean, including the pool. Mike was great to deal with and made it all very easy. This was our first visit to kauai but I hope not the last.

First of many more trips we all love this unit and the area it's the best

Our first first to Kauai and Cindy and Mike’s condo , the location is number one just a minute or two and excellent snorkelling , boogie boarding, swimming. Turtles are every where they are so curious and seem to like being around people. All the locals are very helpful with the right mix of shops , don’t miss out on taking a hike or trip on the Napoli coast then returning back to sunny Poipu taking in a sunset and dinner on the deck.

AMAZING

This was our 5th trip to Kauai and our 2nd stay in this unit. The unit was just as good as the first time 3 years ago. The unit is very spacious, well equipped with evrything you need and the views from the back lanai are unbelievable (sunsets into the ocean). The complex itself is always in beautiful shape. If you BBQ at night the neighbors are always extremely friendly. You can walk to the beach to boogie board, swim with the turtles or just sit on the beach and relax. The complex itself has a wonderful pool. At night with the windows open you can here the peaceful sound of the ocean waves. We would highly recommend this unit to anyone visiting Kauai and tell you that Mike and Cindy are wonderful to deal with. We have already booked our next Kauai visit with Mike and Cindy for next year.

Satisfied Repeat Customer!

we have just signed up for our 3rd time for this condo, after 3 prior stays at other condos in the Nihi Kai complex. We are very pleased with the layout of the facility, the quietness of the location, and the comfort provided. My wife is especially happy to find stainless steel cookware as most other condos seem to have scratched up non-stick stuff that is really toxic…. The place is large with two bedrooms, two bathrooms downstairs (good for sleeping even in hot weather). Mike and Cindy have been extremely helpful and accomodating to help us make the arrangements that suited our schedule each year and i highly recommend their service and their facility. Nihi Kai is a great location in general and the availability of high speed internet makes it convenient for those who have to bring the real world with them during their stay in Kauai, or who just use it to check the weather and make arrangements for hiking or outdoor activities.

Awesome!

We have been visiting Hawaii since 1976, deciding then that Kauai was our favourite island. After the second hurricane in 1992 destroyed Poipu Beach Hotel we started staying at different units at Nihi Kai. Our recent stay in 502 was one of the best by far. It had everything you could possibly need for a vacation and more. There was more than enough linens and towels plus the kitchen was so easy to work in with a great assortment of culinary supplies. The owners have truly put a lot of thought and energy into maintaining and updating this unit. It was even better than home! The grounds, including a nice bar b q area, and pool are always well maintained. Parking is never a problem. The location to beaches and parks is an easy walk. There are several small shopping areas as well. Again the owners have carefully put together a booklet with the locations and hours of the farmers markets, post office and other shops. We will certainly be looking forward to returning to this terrific unit in Nihi Kai. Thank you!

My best friend and I just...

My best friend and I just returned from a 10-day vacation on Kauai. We loved everything about this unit and the complex! Thank you, Mike and Cindy, for such an easy transaction! Our condo was clean, quiet, well-stocked and comfortable. We enjoyed some amazing sunsets both from the back lanai and from the wall (with bagpipes!). Our neighbors were so wonderful – we really appreciated the sense of community and helpfulness while undergoing the tsunami preparedness of 2/27/10. Tsunami notwithstanding, everything about this vacation was relaxing, fun and comfortable. We are already planning our return visit to Kauai!

A wonderfully beautiful l...

A wonderfully beautiful location and very conveniently located to all the sites and activities of the South Shore. Minutes from the local beach where sea turtles swim. And you can view the passing whales and dolphins/porpoises in season from the front wall of the Nihi Kai . . (the locals often refer to the people sitting on the lava rock stone wall as the ‘Wallnuts’ observers.) Beautifully appointed with upgraded furnishings; furniture; linens; cookware; all of which makes it feel like a second home. Modern appliances allow for easy cooking, but restaurants are either within walking distance or a very short drive away. Ceiling fans in every room make for the proper air circulation so that you are totally content not to have direct air conditioning. Sea breezes come gently through the lanai windows; and all patio entrances are completely screened to preclude insect intrusions. The ocassional Gecko provides both entertainment and remaining minor insect control. Even lighting day or night due to the orientation of the front and back windows. You often wake up to the crowing of local roosters which populate the entire island. At least Kauai rooster will not wake you up before 8am or so, unlike the ones I have in my current home. Mike and Cindy run a first rate operation. Teri, the local manager of the property is just a phone call away and is quite responsive to any needs you may have, but you should have a trouble free stay at this beautiful, tranquil oasis.

Dear Mike and Cindy, MAHA...

Dear Mike and Cindy, MAHALO! Thank you so much for renting your home and allowing others to enjoy the experience of Kauai. Your condo felt like a home to us. Everything supplied with your condo from dishes, cooking utensils, bedding, towels and décor was top of the line. A vacation to Hawaii as everyone knows is very expensive for a family of five but renting from you ( an exceptional value ) made it possible. Every morning we would walk to the lithified cliffs just past shipwreck beach and watch the sun rise. Every evening we would watch the sun set while sitting on the wall right in front of Nihi Kai Villas. So many beautiful things to see and do Waimea Canyon, End of the road on the north shore, Wailua Falls and so much more. We made two trips to Kipu Falls ( 20 minute drive ) because the kids enjoyed it so much. And of course the 5 minute walk to Poipu beach were we could swim and snorkel with sea turtles. To sum it up in one word I would have to say “Paradise”. I only hope that in the near future we can make this family trip again and your home will be available. Once again thank you so much.

Mike and Cindy have a great condo and they really thought of all the things you would need to enjoy a vacation in Kauai. Guide books, local tips, and beach gear. The condo was real spacious and comfortable. For me the best part of the condo was the extra comfortable bed. I was looking to come to Kauai to relax and catch up on sleep. The bed defintiely helped and better than most hotel beds I’ve slept in. I would definitely recommend their condo and would come back myself.

We stayed in this condo for seven days. The condo had everything we needed to enjoy our vacation. We didn’t expect the kitchen to be so fully stocked and the beds to be as comfortable as they were. I must say everything on the VRBO website was accurate except the owners underplayed the amazing view of the ocean and the sunsets on the back lanai. We did not expect this since it was advertised and priced as garden view. We had friends come over and thought this place was outstanding and they are going to look to stay here next time they visit. Another plus was being able to walk to Poipu beach park to snorkel and hang out at Honu bar. It was also fun walking to the edge of the Nihi Kai property to watch the massive sea turtles ride the waves. At one point, we counted 6 sea turtles. We would definitely recommend this condo to anyone and when we come back to Poipu, we will rent this condo again. Mahalo Mike and Cindy for allowing us to stay at your beautiful condo.

Mike and Cindy have a wonderful place and are super hosts. We have stayed in their very comfortable condo for two visits of close to three months each and have been very happy here. LOVED IT! My husband and...

LOVED IT! My husband and I and our four grown or almost grown boys spent 11 days here in late August and it was perfect. Temp in the 80s every day. A few rain showers, mostly at night. Condo is nice and very comfortable without being too fancy. It’s a place you can relax in and not have to worry every second that the kids are going to wreck something. Nice kitchen, lanais, comfy beds. It was great having two full baths so I never even looked in the boys’ until the day we left. The complex is very quiet, nicely landscaped, immaculately kept. All guests seemed mature and considerate. Staff are laid back and helpful. One block from a perfect body surfing/boogie boarding beach, two from snorkeling. Pool is very lightly used, always with plenty of chairs, places in the sun or shade. The outdoor shower is nice with all the comings and goings to the beach. Tennis courts empty except our kids. Kauai is gorgeous = paradise. Hope to stay here again. Owners and on-island helper Terrie very responsive and super to deal with. Unanimous family vote — Best vacation we’ve ever had.

We had a wonderful time on Kaua’i. The condo was perfect for our needs (family of four) with two bedrooms and two full baths. It is very well appointed with fully equipped, beautiful kitchen as well as washer and dryer. The layout is great and decor attractive. The location is also great, only a short walk to the beaches, and we were lucky to have a giant sea turtle as well as a monk seal come up onto the beach for a sunbathe and snooze! It was also very easy to communicate with Cindy and Mike in CA and Terri (at Nihi Kai). We were at the condo Aug 10-20 and the weather was perfect with warm days and cool nights. The fans kept the condo comfortable. We would not hesitate to rent this condo again and would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to do so. Thanks very much Cindy, Mike and Terri. We were very glad we rent...

We were very glad we rented your unit the first week in August. Your home is lovely, beautiful inside and out, and comfortable. My husband, two teenage boys, and I were all very happy here. We enjoyed being so close to the ocean with swimming, snorkeling, and surfing all so close by. We loved seeing the sea turtles every day and a seal on our last day. We also enjoyed the pool and the beautiful gardens at Nihi Kai. The kitchen and all the appliances were great. The carpeting is plush. We enjoyed the lanais. Thanks for the use of great towels – both beach and bath. We hadn’t been to Hawaii before and we loved Kauai. We did a fair bit of exploring the island, but always felt happy that we were staying in Poipu. This area suited us very nicely.

My family of 3 stayed her...

My family of 3 stayed here for the month of May and found the condo to be absolutely perfect. The stairs were a bit tricky once I sprained my ankle but hey, that’s what I get for not watching where I was going. We loved the plush towels (beach and bath)not to mention the yummy sheets and found every thing we needed in the kitchen. Was very glad to find the basic staple items provided (spices, oil, salt, pepper, ziplocks, saran wrap etc.) Having a TV in the master bedroom was nice when we wanted to accommodate the husband as well as the five year old. Loved that there was laundry detergent etc. already there for doing up our clothes and such. My only recommendation would be the addition of a pull cart or wagon or something to help with schlepping groceries and the cases of bottled water to the unit. One trip to Costco and you’re thinking twice about the distance between the parking lot and the unit. We felt very much at home and will recommend the unit to friends. We stayed in the condo for a spring break vacation. It was our first trip to Hawaii and I must say that the location to the beach is great. The inside of the condo was very nice and up to date. It had more than enough room for the four of us and it was very clean. I booked with the owner Cindy and she was a delight to deal with, so friendly that it gave me an easy feeing about renting this condo. The grounds of the complex were beautiful, I was not expecting that part of it. They had Tennis courts and the office loans racquets. Thank you Cindy for your condo.We would rent it again.

We just returned from a q...

We just returned from a quick (4 day) vacation to Kauai. It was our first time to this island and we loved it! My husband already has the next trip planned. This condo was great for the two of us, more than enough room. Everything was very clean and well put together. The evenings did get a little warm without AC, but other than that, we loved the place and would recommend it to anyone wanting to enjoy Kauai!

We just got back from our...

We just got back from our honeymoon here. The place is well furnished, very spacious, and had everything. (except AC!) I am glad we booked this condo and not any resort there. It was much cheaper, much more spacious (2 bd/2 ba place for 1 couple!), and we loved the kitchen. (though we really didnt use it) This is a nice place and we wouldnt hesitate to return.

My family of five stayed ...

My family of five stayed at this condo in Mid-August 2007 for six nights (right after Flossie Huricane)and really liked the place. The owners were wonderful to deal with and the contact on the island was very friendly. The condo was immaculately designed and renovated especially its kitchen. It was spacious with nice furnitures; the beds were very comfortable. It was also a perfect hideaway because the property was secluded in a tropical surroundings, but only five minutes easy walk to Brennecke beach. Descriptions of the property is very accurate on the website. My mom alway prefers hotel over condo because of its aircondition and comfortableness; but she was very comfortable at this condo with the ceiling fans and the good tradewinds. My teenage son liked the location because it was closed to both Brennecke and Poipu beaches so he could go surf all day. The highspeed internet also came very handy to entertain my son and daughter in the evening. My husband and I enjoyed our walk on the beach every morning. The highlights of the trip were swinging and jumping into Kipu Fall (not me), and touring Napali Coast with Napali Riders Company. We loved this place because of all its nice details, personal touches and good value. We would not hesistate to reccommend it to our friends and relatives. Best of all, I don’t have to search for a vacation place when visit Kaui because my family would love to stay at this place again. In fact, they had praised me several times for finding such a perfect place…I was lucky.

We recently returned from...

We recently returned from a 2 week vacation at this condo. If you are unsure about booking online or have reservations about this condo let me reassure you that you can leave them behind. The owners are wonderful people who have made sure that no detail was overlooked. The place is exceptionally attractive with louvered doors and an updated tropical look (no outdated pastel hotel decor!) Whether you want to heat up frozen dinners to save money or you are an excellent cook you will be very pleased to find that everything you need is readily available. The owners have provided QUALITY utensils, cookware, bakeware serving dishes, plastic storage containers and generously supplied all other basic necessities such as zip-locks, etc. You will also find beach chairs, an umbrella, beach towels, high quality bath towels and sheets, etc., etc. The owners were very kind and helpful with answering any questions that I had about the local area prior to our trip. We had a large party of 4 adults and 3 kids and found the place to be very comfortable and spacious by placing the kids to sleep upstairs on the fold out bed and an air mattress that we brought with us. The table on the Lanai provided additional dining for the kids. The Tradewinds kept us cool and comfortable (even our most clausterphobic traveler was delighted with how pleasant and cool the Tradewinds kept her). Our 85 year old grandmother traveled with us and though she was a die hard Oahu advocate and skeptical Kauai visitor before she arrived, she went home raving to everyone about the “perfect vacation location” (specifically this condo) and the surrounding beaches. She kept telling me that I picked the very best condo. Though the beaches are a very short and pleasant walk we were able to drive her to a local beach where parking was always available and she could enjoy beautiful sandy beaches and wade in gentle ocean waves. The kids and the rest of us wanted a little more adventure and we were not disappointed…we had our choice of great boogie board surf, snorkeling with tropical fish & turtles, or joining our grandmother …all of which were within minutes. The charm of the island is hard to convey, but let me reassure you that you will not be disappointed. The area has the most unique blend of tropical and rural, you will see roosters everywhere-(don’t worry, I never heard one crow in the morning). Just returned from a love...

Just returned from a lovely 6 day stay at this condo. It is absolutely fabulous! Extremely well equipped, with higher quality dishes, utensils, towels (both bath and beach), and appliances than we expected. Appreciated having a cooler and beach umbrella at our disposal. Although there were no beach chairs, we were able to rent them easily from Kimo’s (by the Poipu Shopping Village) – excellent guy – highly recommend him too. Loved having breakfast on the lanai every morning, and being so close to Poipu beach. Condo was very spacious and comfortable for 4 adults. Wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else when we return to Kauai! Linda, Bob, Nicole, Dave Toronto, Canada

We just returned from Kauai and we have continued to upgrade unit. We do now have beach chairs, new beach umbrella as well as new stainless steel pots and pans. We added a spice rack as well.

We travelled with our 2 k...

We travelled with our 2 kids (11 months and 4 years) and could not have been more pleased. Nihi Kai is perfectly situatuated within a short walk of great beaches. (we rented a little wagon from Ready Rentals, but I could walk it six months pregnant and holding my little daughter) Both kids we’re thrilled with Poipu Beach Park and my husband enjoyed some boogie boarding at Brennecke’s. We did some exploring of the island, but by the end realized that there was no happier place to be, and only drove to get shave ice at JoJo’s. The complex is well-maintained and very quiet. The pool is very simple with a seperate shallow unheated “jacuzzi” style attachment about 3′ deep. Contrary to what you may read, babies in swim diapers are welcome, There is also a tennis court and a couple of gas grills. This unit has been beautifully updated. The split level floor plan is perfect, allowing the kids to sleep undisturbed downstairs, while the parents hung out. It is in a great location, off the main road and very quiet. The foliage makes it feel private, and there is a nice little chunk of ocean visible from the right place in the living room. It is well-stocked with nearly everything you need including CD, DVD, VCR, new TV, small appliances, beach/bath towels, beach chairs and an umbrella. We would like to have had some snorkle stuff, basic spices and condiments, a portable crib and a cookie sheet, but were able to either purchase or rent these things without any difficulty. Again, we couldn’t imagine a better place to stay. We look forward to coming back again.

In January of 07, we were...

In January of 07, we were fortunate to make our 3rd trip Kauai. It is our favotite island. The condo was extremely comfortable. The beds allowed for a good nights rest, which is so often not the case for rentals. The kitchen remodel looked great and was enjoyable for both couples as it now has an open feel with the living area. We highly recommend a stay here. You can walk to 3 big resorts(Sheraton, Marriot, and the Grand Hyatt), but then retreat to Nihi Kai and read poolside in a calm setting overlooking Brennekes beach.

We were pleasantly surpri...

We were pleasantly surprised by this very comfortable condo with ocean views. It’s located a short walk (pretty much across the street) from Brennecke Beach with great swimming, snorkeling and boogie boarding. The Nihi Kai complex is beautifully landscaped with a nice pool and barbecue area. We were happy to leave the rental car parked most of our stay since we found almost everything we needed to enjoy our Kauai vacation within walking distance of the condo. Highly recommended!

This is a wonderful condo...

This is a wonderful condo to stay in and it’s only a short walk away from Poipu Beach, which was voted “Best Beach in America” by the Travel Channel! You’ll love your stay here and the owners are grrrreat! ????
