Family trip

We had a great stay at the property. It was hot, so the no air conditioning was a but tough, but we did know about that aheas if time, so it is what it is. The inside is quite a bit dated, with very faded, slightly weird textured carpet, but was very clean despite this. Having a washer and dryer was very convenient. So was having a door from one of the on-suite bathrooms that lead to the hallway so our sister who was staying on the couch bed uostairs could access the bathroom without entering our room in the night.

Good Price and very clean

Had a good stay. Near beaches and town. Need some maintenance e.g. door knobs and wall plugs. You get what you pay for. It worked for us!

Nice place

Nice condominium rental. Two bedrooms and bathrooms downstairs and kitchen + common area upstairs. Kitchen stocked with adequate dishes, utensils, pots, pans, etc. Fans in each room. Plenty of comfortable seating indoor and outdoor. Within walking distance of the coastline. Eveything we needed to enjoy our stay in Kauai!

Perfect place

Clean and plenty of space. Just the fan lamp in the south bedroom which get on alone during the night, like if a ghost was there.

South shore stay

My Stay

Condo is close to beach. It has a charm that takes me back to my childhood. I'm hoping the ceiling fan/light has been fixed. It would come on at all times of the night; very difficult to live with. Took days to figure out how to disconnect and not use. I didn't want to disturb my stay with repairs, so reported after. The place has everything you need (except for an umbrella; which is apparently dangerous because of the wind). Lovely showers. Bed was comfy. I'd stay again; even with the faulty ceiling fan!

Unit needed too many fixes during our stay

We booked this a couple of months ago for 10 days. We arrived and found a notice on our stove/oven that said not to use and "sorry for the inconvenience." Went to management who was surprised to learn that stove/oven didn't work. That was the first of many repairs. The refridgerator was still leaking inside after several complaints. Dishwasher was not attached under the counter and would come out (tip over)if you pulled the upper and lower racks out. There was a bathtub that leaked. The front door wouldn't lock. Spent too many days complaining to management about things that somebody should have fixed before we had arrived.

Aloha Cris, We do apologize for the oven being out, but it does happen. We did know about it as we put the sign on it and were working on a replacement which we were glad to have gotten done the next day. The frig required a part to be ordered and that takes time. You are correct, we should have noticed the other items and we apologize for the misses. No excuses, but glad we were able to get them all attended to in a timely fashion. Again, sorry for the inconvenience of it all.

Poipu

Very clear and easy check in instructions. The condo was very clean and had all the amenities. The condo is not very new but is well maintained. The bedrooms and washrooms are in the lower level which was not clear in the booking. Pool was clean and very refreshing. We also used the tennis courts.. Overall very pleasant stay.

Great Stay

We had a lovely week long stay in unit 503. The location was great. We walked to Poipu Beach every day and saw the turtles and monk seals resting on the beach. The swimming was best at the beach in front of the Marriott which was also walking distance. The unit itself is a bit dated but functional. The carpet could stand to be replaced. The unit is one flight up with the living and kitchen area on that level. The bedrooms and both bathrooms are down another flight of stairs (on the ground level). Lots of stairs may be a problem for anyone with mobility issues. The photos are accurate. Small view of the ocean above the neighboring rooftops. We could hear the waves crashing. Pool area was very nice. We had the pool mostly to ourselves. Nice view of the ocean from the lounge chairs. Unit came equipped with several beach chairs, beach umbrella, coolers, tennis racquets, beach towels. Great communication with our hosts. Clear check in/out instructions. Friendly staff. This unit has no A/C (which we were aware of) so we utilized the fans provided. Overall great stay. We would stay here again.

Couldn’t ask for more

I loved every part of this experience from booking to check out. Communication was stellar. Our condo was exactly as advertised. The kitchen was fully stocked. The location and view were ideal. We loved walking over to Poipu beach every morning and evening. The complex is nicely landscaped and maintained. We also used the pool several times. The view of the ocean from the pool was very nice. We would definitely want to stay here next time we come. Probably the best short term rental experience we’ve had on the island and we come at least two times a year.

Comfortable and great location

This is going to be our longest stay on Kauai to date. We choose different locations around Kauai so that we don’t have to drive excessively to enjoy each part of the island. This property fit us perfectly. We were close to our favorite south side restaurants (the Beach House, Brenneckes, etc) and one of our favorite coffee stops (Little Fish). The beach was a short walk away to view the amazing sunsets. We even got to see whales breaching and sea turtles as we walked along the shore!

Perfect for us!

First, the staff was wonderful. Thank you for always being available and responsive.

Next, this place was perfect for us. "Us" being for me (62 yrs old) and my travel-mate (also 62 yrs old) for the first week, as well as for me and my daughter (29 yrs old) for the second week. YES, this unit "island casual", so no granite countertops. The furniture showed its years of use, BUT, the living room furniture was comfortable, as were the beds (we did not use the sofa-sleeper). The kitchen was VERY well stocked with more than you would expect (good cooking pans, blender, slowcooker, travel mugs, toaster, etc). The stove was the only older appliance, but it worked well (we did not use the oven). The refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, dishwasher were all newer. There were a few ants present, but if you empty the trash regularly, I don't think it will be a problem. It wasn't for us. We did not have an issue with the \'no air conditioning' in this unit. We opened the windows as soon as we entered and were fine; even sleeping. (Side note, we had friends staying at the Marriott Timeshare just 1/2 mile away and they also had their windows open most of the time instead of using their air conditioning.) The washer/dryer was older and small, but it worked great for us. (Detergent for one load provided.)

There were so many extras, like coolers (even one with wheels for the beach), beach chairs, beach towels, tote bags, boogie board, tennis rackets, etc. I think this has been a vacation rental for a while and many guests have left items for the next guests to enjoy.

We made the 1/2 mile walk to Poipu Beach several times. I have my own snorkel gear and snorkeled twice. It was easy and I saw many fish, as well as turtles and seals.

Out of my two week stay, there was only one night that we couldn't park in the parking lot and had to park on the street. No biggie.

We didn't eat out much. (Covid19 restrictions made it difficult.) We did eat out twice and both restaurants I can recommend "Brennecke's Beach Broiler" and "Keoki's Paradise". Good food, service, atmosphere and drinks. We also at at "Puka Dog Hawaiian Style Hotdogs", which is attached to Brennecke's. You can get a Polish Sausage or a Vegge Dog (we had the vegge dog and it was delish!) and fresh squeezed lemonade.

I thank the owners for making this "home away from home" available to us, because that is truly what it felt like. I hope to come back here again.

Close to the beach!

We were pleasantly surprised to find out that this property was so close to all the fun beaches in Poipu. The pool also had an ocean view. This was a great place to stay if you want to be close to the beach.

Great location and very quiet

We enjoyed our stay at the condo. Although a small view of the ocean (differs from pictures online) – we felt that the closeness to the beach made up for it. The kitchen is a little worn but we were comfortable in the rest of the condo. Would suggest changing from the carpet – would make the place feel cleaner.

Condo NEEDS AIR CONDITIONING

Every other condo around us had some kind of accommodations made for air conditioning.. window air or individual after market air conditioners THIS condo owner needs to correct this and update his condo

Typically, the trade winds and cross breezes cool things off nicely, but we understand it can be warmer at times and are sorry that you were not comfortable in the unit. We do try to be very clear on our listings and your rental contract requires you to click that you are aware of the availability of (or lack of) AC. Wonderful location. Great beach walks.

Pool is delightful. Beach is immediately accessible and has excellent snorkeling, sunning, & fun playground. Fine restaurant at beach. Beach supplies are available for purchase and rent right at the beach. Farm markets are within 1 mile. Mall and shopping center with in 1 mile. Restaurants are varied and great. Food can be supplied for the kitchen at Costco in Lihue and local grocery stores. Horses and boating are near buy but pricey. Holo holo is top notch for touring on the waters around KAUAI and can be discounted thru Costco. Trips on the road to north, eat and west shores are delightful. avoid rush hours. ???? drop box was great. I arrived just after another so merely grabbed mine. There were no sheets for the couch bed so bought some at Habitat the next day. I left them happily. We left fresh food in the frig when we departed for the maids. I have been coming to Hawaii since 1979. I loved the trip this year as always. this is a great Hawaiian place to stay. They assured me if I had told them about the missing sheets they would have given them to me. I presumed I was dealing with an individual and I was helping them by buying them a pair. I left 8 books for their collection and a new photo. Aloha and Mahalo.

Total Relaxation!

We stayed at Nihi Kai 503 for 2 weeks and couldn’t have been more comfortable there. It has everything you need, and the sunset views are absolutely breathtaking. 100% recommend and hope to stay here again. The property management staff are great too!

Great location, beautiful property, good bbq area, excellent pool, Unit looked tired and req'd impr

Great view, however, many repairs are required: locks on screen doors broken, ‘frozen shutters’ we couldn’t manipulate, kitchen counter tiles that require re-grouting, a rusty dish-rack we didn’t use, unwanted ant infestations, worn-out outlets that no longer hold plugs in, a broken dishwasher two days in, old twisted burner coils on stove that leave pans tilted, one element not working, poor selection of pots (actually, only one small pot), pans fit only for camping, cloudy ugly stemware, cracked mugs, both en-suite bathroom fans so loud you couldn’t use them, ceiling fans old and loud, loud light ballast buzzing over counter, perhaps the most uncomfortable couch I’ve ever sat on, a frayed wire night-table lamp that lit up the bedroom with an electrical flash and neighbors who smoked with their smoke often curling through the unit. The office was contacted regarding the fans and the dishwasher. A serviceman came to inspect the dishwater two days later but it wasn’t serviced during our two-week stay. No one came to service the bathroom fans. There’s no reason for any of these things. We would recommend pulling up the aqua-marine carpet and put in hardwood flooring. Fellow residents spoke well regarding their units, many of which had extensive beach stuff (boogie-boards, chairs, snorkel/fins/masks), chairs and golf clubs. The unit has dated snorkel gear and worn out beach chairs. The unit supplied a place to eat/sleep/read and go to the bathroom. Its condition was a great incentive to enjoy our time at the beaches and the pool and the excellent beauty of Kauai.
Aloha Yvonne, Mahalo for your review, however we are surprised by your list and do want to apologize for any oversight on our part. We wish you would have pointed this out while you were here as we could have addressed most, if not all, while you were out exploring Kauai. With regards to the exhaust fans, we came out that day and then explained that they needed to be ordered and we would try to get them in when we can. We apologize it was not during your stay, but know they have since been replaced. We also had the appliance guy come as soon as he was available (the next morning) and the drain was fixed. Again, we did not know about any of the other issues. In response to your comments, please know we replaced the pots, pans and skillets, added all new glassware and a dish rack. In addition, we had maintenance do a thorough review of the entire unit as we wanted to ensure everything was in working order. We apologize for any oversight but please know that like a hotel, we are here 24/7 to service any issues that arise while you are here, so please call, email or text us. Mahalo.

朝から、パンケーキの香り、モンクシールとのんびり。

???? poipuビーチに歩いて行けるので、朝の散歩、夕日を見たりと長くシュノーケルなどで、ビーチで遊べる。モンクシールに毎日会えたし、ウミガメも浜でゆっくり休んでいた。レンタカー利用で、買物も、島内観光も問題ないロケーション。バスタブアリ。海に入ってたのであまり使わなかったが。鍵は、前もって知らせがあったとおり、事務所のボックスへ暗証番号を入れてロックを外して受け取り、帰りはボックスに投入して終わり。到着、出発が時間外でチェックイン、チェックアウト時に事務所が閉まっていたため。お庭もきれい。プール深くてビックリ。お部屋は広い。洗濯機、乾燥機、セーフティーボックスあります。 ???? 築年数古いため、フルキッチンだが、それなり。包丁もたくさんあるが、壊れてるものも。食器などもそろってる。が、それなり。クーラーなし。天井のファン回せば問題なし。風は通ります。ヘアドライヤーがこわれていた。入口は、階段で2階にあるので、足の悪い方は、（階下に部屋のあるタイプ）ベッドルームの方から出入りされていました。

A very pleasent, easy stay with great staff and fabulous location.

???? There was plenty of space for a family of four including two teenagers. The location was minutes from a safe and popular beach, and also from a fairly nice restaurant. Directions to the resort were very clear and keys were easy to collect. The instruction pack was waiting and a manager was always to hand to help. There was a safe for belongings. Balcony had a view and the grounds were beautiful. There was a small swimming pool which we didn’t use. ???? The master bed was too soft.

Be warned!

Not all condos have air conditioning!! It was not clear in the on-line representation that the unit we booked does not have any AC. They depend on the trade winds and fans. We had to call maintenance to get additional fans, and for the ceiling fans to be adjusted, as the were barely moving air. We requested to move to another unit. The staff was exceptionally helpful in getting us to another location/unit with AC. I know the tropics have bugs, but this unit also had dead bugs laying around, and little tiny ants all over the kitchen counters. We had to keep all food in the refrigerator and freezer in order not to share with the ants. The bed in the master bedroom is worn out! The night we had to stay (waiting to get into an AC unit) was miserable. I found myself climbing out of a hammock-like hole in the mattress all night long. On a positive note: the grounds are beautiful, the condo was well stocked with linens and kitchen items, and it has three lanais.
Aloha lyearout, We apologize for any confusion, but all our units and resorts with AC are clearly marked as such. We did our best to cool things down, but in the end we are glad we were able to upgrade you to another unit with AC. Yes, the tropics have insects and we do our best by having all our units regularly treated. What you saw was what we call “no-see-ums”…tiny, harmless flying gnats that are attracted to the light and end up dying in the units. They flair up occasionally given the weather, but apologize that you had to deal with them and the ants. Usually the treatment keeps them at bay. We have noted the mattress being soft and if we get more complaints will address it with the owner. Our family just returned from staying in this unit and we were pleasantly surprised. The location was great and within walking distance to all the beaches. The unit was comfortable and even had some extras we we not expecting such as a boogie board, beach chairs and umbrellas. The staff at Nihi Kai were so friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay here again.

Great Location

Property was exactly as described. Great location! Just a short walk to the beach to swim, snorkel, turtle watch, etc. Wonderful customer service. Overall, it was a nice, quiet, and spacious place to relax when we were not outside exploring Kauai.

We decided to try a different location this year and were very pleased with our decision and your recommendation. The unit had a nice layout and was very comfortable. Our only minor complaint would be the tv in the living room. The cable would randomly lose the signal and the screen would go blue. Very hard to unwind from a long day of fun and sun.

Wonderful Experience

I grew up on Kauai and still have family there but when we need a little extra space we have rented at Nihi Kai Villas. We love this place, the location is perfect. Poipu is our favorite spot and its nice to be in walking distance of the beach so that when one child needs a nap we can do that without having to pack up the whole family. There were 2 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 younger kids and we fit perfectly in the unit. Thanks!

Home away From Home

We were very happy with Nihi Kai 503. We had a beautiful view, the unit was large (bigger than where we currently live), it was clean, and provided everything we needed. In addition the beach and a food establishment was within walking distance. We will definitely stay there again. Even though it wasn’t one of the more updated units, we felt very comfortable and happy there.

Great location and set up for a family vacation

We have rented condo 503 twice now and highly recommend this location for families. It has 2 levels which is nice for when you have children who go to bed earlier than the adults. The grounds are always clean and the pool is spotless. Walking only a little way down the road you pass by the famous turtle viewing spot and quickly reach the poipu park. At this park you have several different types of beaches. There is baby beach which is so shallow that even the smallest of toddlers can enjoy a walk about. And then you have Brenikies beach for the older tweens/teenagers to boogie board or just play in the waves. While most of the rental units do not have air-conditioning, you have several fans and a cool ocean breeze to keep you comfortable. The kitchen has all you need to prepare meals. With a quick shop at Costco you can save money on the expensive restaruants and eat at home for most meals.
